Fauna

Our hunters caught all kinds of animals - deer, elk, bear, rabbit, water fowl. The bones of animals, or fauna, caught by our hunters decayed over time, but fragments are sometimes found in our fireplaces or middens. We know from other Stó:lō archaeological sites that animal bones were made into tools, like deer bone awls, and carved into musical instruments, like eagle bone flutes.
