Obsidian

Obsidian is a shiny black rock sometimes called volcanic glass. Because it is so sharp, many ancient hunters and fishers made it into tiny knives called ‘microblades’. These tools were especially used for cutting fish. The obsidian at Sq’éwlets were traded from northern British Columbia, Oregon, Idaho, and California.
