Salmonberry

Salmonberry shoots are among the first greens and berries of spring. Many of the seeds were found in the ancient houses at Qithyil. When the salmonberries ripen, it is a markerthat the spring salmon run will soon begin. Both our ancestors and our present-day Stό:lō members use these natural signs to know when to gather, fish, and hunt.
