Salmon vertebrae

The fish we caught were butchered, smoked, and stored in huge numbers. In the cold rainy winter, we cooked salmon in stew, soups, or over the fire. The small bones decay quickly in our acidic soils. At Qithyil, only a few salmon vertebrae are left from what was once the major food in our diet.
